IASH welcomes back Elizabeth Stephens

4 Aug 2017

IASH is delighted to welcome back Associate Professor Elizabeth Stephens as one of our new ARC Future Fellows. Elizabeth started with us in her new capacity on Monday 31 July. She was already an Honorary Research Fellow with the Institute and had earlier been a Postdoctoral Fellow, then an ARC Research Fellow, and Deputy Director of the Centre for the History of European Discourses, one of the foundational centres that incorporated into IASH. Most recently, Elizabeth had been an Associate Professor in Cultural Studies and Deputy Head of School (Research) in the School of Arts and Social Sciences at Southern Cross University.

Elizabeth’s Future Fellowship project will examine the cultural history of the experiment, from early modern science to contemporary experimental art. It seeks to show how collaborations between the arts and sciences have historically produced breakthroughs in knowledge and creative practice, and provide models for productive collaborative practice in the present.

Elizabeth’s work spans three of IASH’s program areas and we are excited about her contribution to the Institute.
